International Optometrist of the Year Award 2025

David Pablo Piñero earned his Doctorate from the University of Alicante (2010) and a degree in Optics and Optometry from the same university (2011), having received the Extraordinary Award for the Diploma in Optics and Optometry (1998). He also holds a degree in Documentation from the Open University of Catalonia (2007).

He is a tenured professor in the Department of Optics, Pharmacology, and Anatomy at the University of Alicante and Associate Editor of the scientific journals Journal of Optometry, BMC Ophthalmology, and Journal of Ophthalmology.

He maintains an intense research activity, with over 450 scientific publications. In 2021, Expertscape recognized him as the world’s leading expert in corneal topography, second in aberrometry, and fourth in ocular refraction according to his scientific contributions.

He was honored as an “Honorary Optometrist” by the College of Opticians-Optometrists of the Valencian Community in December 2014.
