Information Award

The Optometrist of the Year Award is promoted annualy in collaboration with the College of Optometrists of Catalonia, the Catalan Association of Optometry and Vision Therapy and Facultat d'Òptica & Optometria of Terrassa, with the support of the Faculty Board.

This prize is awarded annualy in recognition of academic and professional value to an optometrist of recognised international prestige. The award ceremony coincides with the Opening of the Academic Year, and the winner is responsible to give the Inaugural Conference. At the same time, the award-winning becomes the Mentor of the current year Class.

This
initiative aims to contribute to raising awareness of the profession in society and for the Faculty students to find for them to find benchmarks that motivate them to excel academically today and professionally, tomorrow.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Optometrists will be eligible without need to be presented/sponsored. They must be in possession of a Bachelor degree in Optics and Optometry or equivalent and must not have received the award previously.

The Scientific Committee will
 consider and assess the following aspects, in order of priority:

  1. Number of publications in indexed journals during the last 5 years, in the area of optics and optometry.
  2. Participation in international conferences during the last 5 years, in the area of optics and optometry.
  3. Social and scientific impact of their professional activity and research.
  4. Number of patents, in holding, in the area of optics and optometry.
  5. Professional career.

 

SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

The Scientific Committee is composed of the following members:

1. The Vice-Rector of Research Policy of the UPC.
2.
 The Dean of the Faculty of Optics and Optometry of Terrassa.
3. The 
head of a research group of the Department of optics and optometry.
4.
 The Town Councillor of Universities of the city of Terrassa.
5.
 The President of Catalan Council of Optometry (COOOC).

6. The President of the Catalan Association of Optometry and Vision Therapy (ACOTV).
